On September 14th, Jean Claude Juncker, on behalf of the European Commission, reviewed a year of EU achievements and outlined his action plan for the next twelve months in the much anticipated “State of the Union” speech. We, 52 young feminists, representing 22 diverse European countries, have written our response – a feminist State of the Union.
- Ciara Coughlan, an Irish feminist, wrote the Feminist State of the Union together with Aurélie Notebaert, Hélène Frick, Hazal Atay, Ilaria Todde and 47 other young feminist participants of the European Women’s Lobby AGORA 2016. Ciara has recently graduated from the MA in European Politics at the College of Europe where she wrote her thesis on gender mainstreaming in EU climate change policy. She is now working as a trainee in the European Parliament with the Gender Equality and Women’s Rights Committee. Find her on Twitter @ciarcoughlan
